Endobiogenic Medicine

Endo (internal), Bio (life), Geny (generation). Endobiogeny (also called endobiogenic medicine), assesses how the internal life of the body is generating and sustaining itself. This concept was founded and developed by Christian Durrafourd, MD, and its teaching developed by Dr. Duraffourd and Jean-Claude Lapraz, MD.

Endobiogenic medicine considers the endocrine system (the body’s internal communication system that sends chemical messages to regulate growth, energy, mood etc) to be the true manager of the body. This is because it’s the only body system that’s ubiquitous, self-regulating and able to manage all other body systems at the same time. The autonomic nervous system helps regulate the endocrine system, modulating both the intensity and duration of its hormone release.

The theory of terrain lies at the heart of endobiogeny, terrain refers to the body’s internal environment – the environment of cells, tissues and organs – and how they’re functioning together as a whole. The endocrine and autonomic nervous system governs this terrain, maintaining the body’s ability to adapt. The body is in a constant state of adaptation, when a person experiences stress, illness or other challenges, these regulatory systems can become overloaded or misaligned, causing the body to struggle to adapt. This can show up as fatigue, hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, insomnia, anxiety or another dysfunction.

Endobiogenic medicine supports the body by:

  • Analysing the terrain to identify where regulation is out of balance.
  • Restoring harmony in the endocrine and autonomic nervous system.
  • Helping the body to readapt naturally instead of suppressing symptoms.
  • Reinforcing the body’s intrinsic self-regulating capacity, so the body can adapt appropriately to stressors and maintain overall health.

GEMMA analytics,

Endobiogeny uses GEMMA analytics, which is a mathematical analysis of blood markers. It assesses how hormones are working at the cellular and tissue level. Traditional blood tests only measure hormone levels and don’t show how well the hormones are functioning, or how they relate to each other. This is why a patient can have normal blood test results but still experience symptoms. Endobiogenic blood analysis helps practitioners to understand the root cause of dysfunctions and therefore design a more effective, personalised treatment plan. Blood results can be analysed through a range of panels tailored to different areas, such as anxiety, allergies and inflammation for example. Many of these panels use blood markers that can be obtained from a routine blood test from your GP (full blood count).

Herbal treatment

Herbal treatment is central to the treatment with endobiogenic medicine because herbs support the body’s own adaptive and regulatory systems. Selected according to individual needs, they help modulate hormonal activity, support resilience to stress, and restore balance within the body’s internal environment. Endobiogeny also incorporates nutrition, lifestyle, essential oils, gemmotherapy and oligominerals.
